This was what the Big Tiddy looked like most of the day from the press box view of things:
So Day Six of the 2102 College World Series was a complete washout. Now, Kent State and South Carolina’s Loser Bracket game will take place at 11am Omaha time as part of a three-game day on Thursday (And why they don’t utilize their “open” day like in 2008 is a mystery to me. That’s what it’s supposed to be there for) Either the Flashes or the Gamecocks are going to have to win two games on Thursday to stay alive as the winner of the KSU-SoCar game will play the 8pm game against Arkansas. Between those two games, Arizona and Florida State will play a Bracket One game.
And for those of you wondering, the record for most games played in one day at the CWS is actually four. On Monday June 10th, 1974 Southern Illinois beat Seton Hall 5-1 Â in a game that began at 9am Omaha time in order to complete the first four games of the first round. That game was supposed to have been completed on Saturday June 8th, but was moved back two days to Monday due to torrential rain from Saturday mid-afternoon through Sunday night. Then, second round games which had been moved back from their original Sunday date, saw Miami beat Oklahoma 5-1, USC beat SIU 5-3 and Seton Hall lost its second game of the day, 12-2 to Texas, to be eliminated.
Oh, by the way, I read later on in the night after the game had been called that, with the game pushed back another 14 hours, South Carolina has decided NOT to start Jordan Montgomery (5-1, 4.01) for this game and will instead go back to Michael Roth as the starter. Kent State will stick with their planned flinger in Tyler Skulinka, who was 11-2, 3.65 ERA this season

PICS
Other images of the day.

Things got a little hairy at times with large, almost harmful, sheets of rain cascading on the stadium.
.

At one point a fan jumped down onto the field, and once he saw the stadium police coming toward him with their right hands on a concealed weapon, tried to jump back over the yellow PVC piping and back into the stands... but to no avail, it was too slippery.
.

Without incident the fan was brought into custody and ushered below the stadium for a good ass-kickin'. I mean, to be read his Miranda Rights.
.

Sirius XM College Sports Radio surprised me with a "Can you go on the air in 2 minutes" phone call. So I was on satellite radio with Chris Childers for about 10 minutes, giving them updates on things. At one point, my good bud Mark Ethereidge of SEBaseball heard me on the radio and snapped this photo and sent it to me. Nice.
.

Kent State players kept themselves amused with a mock game of dugout baseball while waiting to play the game.
.

Eventually, the game was called and as I walked to the car, this rainbow came out in the distance. Yes indeed, the sun WILL come out tomorrow, as the song says.
.

As you might've seen on my Twitter page (What, you don't follow me on Twitter? Gah!), I was still extremely depressed over no college baseball today, so I had to go lose myself over a Whiskey Steak, a baked potato and a Woodford Reserve at The Drover.
.
Okay, see you all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for tomorrow’s 11am game with South Carolina and Kent State.
G’night.

Nope…never been on Twitter & Facebook…and never will…so don’t assume anything sent there shouldn’t be replicated here, for the original faithful :>) Ahhh…that steak takes me back to a time when I was growing up in the Big O…

I can’t believe Ray Tanner is going to abuse Roth’s arm like that. Oh, wait, he’s not a 1st round pick like Kevin Gausman so it doesn’t matter.
