… and it is Coastal Carolina.

The Chanticleers won their first national title in any sport by beating Arizona 4-3 in Game Three of the College World Series championship series. They scored all four of their runs with two out in the sixth inning, keyed by a bad double-error on Arizona second baseman Cody Ramer. CCU’s G.K. Young added a two-run home run to push the lead to 4-0.

As you would expect, Arizona scrapped its way back to pull within 4-3 in the ninth inning. Then, facing men on second and third with two out and two strikes, Coastal starter-turned reliever Alex Cunningham got Ryan Haug to swing-and-miss on a full-count fastball to end the game and begin the mad celebration for the Chants Nation.
